Lake Orta, with
it's wild banks and indescribable calmness is just eight miles long
and less than two miles wide, enclosed in an idillyic landscape of
alpine forests and mountains and is an attraction for poets, artists
and authors. One can only be charmed by Orta SAn Giulio, a graceful
medieval, car free village. There is nothing to compare with an evening
sitting by the lake in the central square, dominated by the 16th century
palazzotto, overlooking the illuminated island of San Giulio. On a
clear and sunny day you can enjoy the view of seven lakes.
Many are the quaint historical villages and churches and the lovely
island of San Giulio is a must for any visitor. Those who have been
to Lake Orta remain spellbound and secretly hope that others will
not discover this little gem where tourism is almost absent. Lake

Lake Como, just
20 minutes from the Swiss border has been a haven for many aristocrats
for the shear beauty of this truly lovely place with a superb dropback
of snow capped mountains. An enchanting oasis with the most stunning
views. Many are the lakeside towns and villages to explore (which
can be reached either by car or ferry) for example: Bellaggio, "the
pearl of the lake", Cernobbio a particularly lovely village and
Varenna an ancient fishing village with steep winding streets.
Lake Como is however renowned for its exquisite villas and probably
the most famous one is Villa Carlotta.
Como is an ancient town surrounded by high walls, over 400 years old
with magnificent churches, historic monuments, local and designer
shops.
Como's promenade and the illuminated bridge is the focus of life in
the town with pavement cafes, pubs, restaurants and nightlife. Lake
